Clow Valve touts Industrial Maintenance Work-Based Learning Partnership at Community College Day on the Hill
Clow Valve General Manager, Mark Willett, recently joined Indian Hills Community College staff in participation at Iowa’s Community College Day on the Hill, which was held at the Rotunda Capitol in Des Moines. The event showcased the wide variety of opportunities provided by Iowa’s 15 community colleges, which benefit the state’s economy and communities. Together, Mark and Indian Hills staff represented the Industrial Maintenance Work-Based Learning Partnership. Work-based learning includes a continuum of structured activities utilizing the partnership between industry and education to engage student learning. Through experiences with industry professionals, such as Clow Valve Co., participants foster first-hand engagement with in-depth application of academic, technical and professional skills to the tasks required of a given career field while meeting specific learning objectives.
According to Mark, “We are proud of the partnership we have developed with Indian Hills Community College, which has been fruitful for our operation and students alike. Programs that showcase career opportunities for those interested in technical and skilled trades play an essential role in filling a much-needed gap in the workforce and helping assure American manufacturing remains strong for the future. We have had great success with this partnership, and this event highlighted for Iowa Legislature and Governor Reynolds the opportunities that have been afforded thanks to their support.”
